CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston Beach Volleyball team travels to Huntsville, Ala. this weekend to participate in the Sun Belt mid-season seeding tournament. The Sandy Cougs will contest four matches with two on Friday and two on Saturday. Charleston enters the weekend at 3-9 after an 0-4 weekend at the Stetson Invitational.Â
On Friday, Charleston takes on Southern Mississippi at 8:00 a.m. to kick of the weekend. The Golden Eagles enter at 6-10 overall but 2-0 in conference play with wins over Mercer and Stephen F. Austin. Southern Miss went 2-2 last weekend in Louisiana, picking up wins over SFA and Southeastern before dropping matches to New Orleans and UAB.Â
Later on Friday, Charleston will take on SFA. The Jacks sit at 7-9, also going 2-2 in Louisiana last weekend, falling to Southern Miss and Tulane while picking up wins against Southeastern and Houston Christian.Â
On Saturday, the Sandy Cougs take on Georgia State. The Panthers enter the weekend at 9-8 after dropping five straight in California against #7 Long Beach, #13 Hawaii, #6 California and #2 UCLA. State has played a tough schedule so far with all defeats coming against ranked opponents. The Panthers have picked up ranked wins against South Carolina, Stetson and Tampa this year. Â
Charleston wraps up the weekend with Louisiana - Monroe Saturday afternoon. The Warhawks sit at 6-6 on the season after a 3-1 home weekend, picking up wins against McNeese State, Nicholls and Texas A&M - Kingsville. Four of ULM's defeats this season have come against ranked opponents.Â
