Cougars Kick Off Conference Play at Stony Brook

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team will travel to Stony Brook, N.Y. on Saturday, September 14 to face the Seawolves in their conference opener.
The Cougars travel to Long Island after a road win on Tuesday at Queens. Charleston tallied the first goal of the game in the 14th minute, when a cross from Etienne Julien into the box was won by Noah Gold, who got a foot on it to put it in the bottom right corner. Charleston entered the break with a 1-0 lead.
Stian Bendvold doubled the lead for the Cougars, pressuring the Royals' back line to win an open shot on goal and mark his first career goal. The final goal for Charleston came off a corner kick from Leonardo D'Ambrosio in the 68th minute, which found the head of Tom Wilson on the right post.
The Seawolves currently hold a 1-2-2 record on the 2024 season. Stony Brook currently holds a 2-0 record over the Cougars, beating the Cougars both times in conference play since they joined the CAA in 2022. Charleston currently holds a five-game win streak going into this matchup, their best start since the 2009 season.
