CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston women's soccer defeated West Georgia on Sunday afternoon by a 3-0 score.
The Cougars' first goal came in the 22
nd minute, when a cross from
Mary Alexander ricocheted off a header from
Bubbles Dever that was finished by
Faith Slimmer. While outshooting the Wolves 9-0 in the first half, Charleston entered the break with a one goal lead.
The second goal of the day came in the 56
th minute, when a corner kick from
Faith Slimmer found
Casey Malone in the box for her first goal of the season. The Cougars finished their scoring in the 77
th minute when a ball from
Millie Cluxton found
Caroline Fowlkes at the top of the box, placing it in the bottom left corner.
Charleston outshot their opponent 28-1 on the day, with the defense allowing no shots on goal to secure their seventh shutout of the season. The Cougars remain undefeated at Patriots Point to wrap up nonconference play.
Charleston will return to action on Thursday, September 19 to kick off conference play at Hofstra. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and will be livestreamed on FloFC.
