ELON, N.C. – College of Charleston extended its winning streak to five and opened Coastal Athletic Association play with a win at Elon Saturday afternoon in four sets (25-18, 22-25, 25-20 and 25-11).

The Cougars improve to 8-4 in 2024 while the Phoenix sit level at 6-6.

Hannah Scott recorded her third straight double-double, dishing out 33 assists and picking up a career-high 19 digs.
Caitlyn Callahan tallied a game-best 16 kills while also earning six total blocks in the winning efforts.

WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED:
- Charleston came out of the final break hot, starting the fourth set, 7-2. Defensively, the Cougars held Elon to a -.128 attacking percentage in the final frame.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST ELON:
- Offensively, Emily Banitt, Callahan and Emily Dykes each had 10-plus kills on Saturday.
- Callahan (.433), Dykes (.348) and Allie Holland (.316) all hit over .300 and had four-or-more blocks.
- Charleston held Elon to a .104 attacking percentage in the victory.
- The Cougars recorded a season-high 10 service aces, backed by Tynley Smeltzer's five.
- Charleston had four solo blocks, while all five players to record a block each had at least three.
- Elon's 11 points in the fourth set were the fewest allowed by Charleston in a set this season.

- Charleston improved to 32-5 against Elon all-time and 11-2 in four sets.
- CofC is 14-4 in conference openers under head coach Jason Kepner and 8-4 since joining the CAA.
- The Cougars grabbed 12 total blocks in the win, their fifth straight game with 10-plus blocks and seventh this season.
- Charleston's eight blocks in the fourth set surpasses Tuesday's seven blocks in set two as the most in a frame in 2024.
- Holland now has 495 career blocks after recording four Saturday.
- Smeltzer's five service aces are a career-high for the senior.
- Scott's 19 digs were a career-best while her 33 assists puts her nine shy of reaching 750 for her career.
- Charleston's five straight matches with double-digit blocks are the most since the 2020 season.
