STATESBORO, Ga. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team fell to Georgia Southern on Tuesday evening 2-1.
The Cougars pressured early, tallying three shots in the opening minutes of play. Although maintaining possession for the majority of the first half, Charleston entered the break with a 0-0 score.
The Eagles got on the board in the 71
st minute to take the 1-0 lead. The Cougars continued to pressure and in the 78
th minute earned a foul at the top of the box.
Leonardo D'Ambrosio took the free kick, finding the top of the net for the equalizer.
Less than two minutes later, Georgia Southern was able to convert to take the 2-1 lead. Despite a penalty kick save from
Olly Marshall in the final minutes of the game, the Cougars came up short by the final whistle.
