ASHEBORO, N.C. - The College of Charleston women's golf team won the Tot Hill Farm Invitational on Tuesday for their first tournament win of the season. The Cougars posted a 3-over final total team score, ten stokes better than second place ECU in the 11-team field. The Cougars also swept the individual podium, with senior
Emma Schimpf (-1) winning the individual crown followed by
Emilie von Finckenstein (E) in second and
Molly Hardwick (+1) at T3.
"It was great to get a win and get the experience of playing in the final group. We weren't perfect today, but the team showed a lot of heart to get the win," said head coach
Jamie Futrell. "Congrats to Emma on her win. She had an awesome final two rounds."
After posting the lowest second round of the tournament on Tuesday, Schimpf followed it up the lowest third round score to seal the individual title. She posted four birdies in the round.
von Finckenstein, who held the lead after the opening day of play, finished with back-to-back birdies on holes 17 and 18 to lock in second place. Hardwick completed the trifecta at the top with a three birdie, 1-over round to finish T3.
The Cougars return to action October 4-6 at the Evie Odom Invitational in Virginia Beach.
