Cougars Continue Road Trip at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The College of Charleston men's basketball team travels to Monmouth on Saturday, January 11 to face the Hawks. Action is set for 1:00 p.m.

STORYLINES
  • Charleston is 4-0 all-time vs. Monmouth with the teams last meeting in the 2024 CAA quarterfinals. Ante Brzovic had 15 points in the game while CJ Fulton totaled seven assists.
  • The contest will feature a pair of brothers, with Charleston's Jack Miller and Monmouth's Corey Miller facing off.
  • The Cougars are coming off a 67-61 win over Hofstra on Thursday night in Long Island behind a big second half Charleston run for the program's fifth straight win. Fulton dished out a career-high 12 assists while Brzovic recorded his 14th career double-double Fulton's career-high 12 assists are the second most in a single game in Charleston history. The senior added seven rebounds, eight points, and had zero turnovers. He currently is second in the country in assist/turnover ratio (4.55).
  • Brzovic had a game-high 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his 14th overall and sixth double-double of the season. The reigning CAA Player of the Week ranks seventh in the country in total field goals made (121) and 13th in defensive rebounds per game (7.50).
  • The Cougars' six turnovers are the lowest committed this season. Charleston earned 14 points off Hofstra's 12 turnovers.
  • Four Cougars are averaging in double figure scoring, led by Brzovic with 19.3 points per game. Deywilk Tavarez (12.5), Derrin Boyd (12.1), and AJ Smith (10.7) each contributed a 20+ point performance vs. either Hampton or Towson.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
  • Monmouth enters the game 3-13 overall and 1-2 in CAA play, most recently falling to UNCW 64-55 on Thursday night in West Long Branch. Abdi Bashir Jr. led the Hawks with 18 points, his 15th time in double-figures in 16 games this year. Bashir is second in the country in three pointers made.
  • Jaret Valencia and Cornelius Robinson III control the glass, grabbing 5.2 rebounds each per game. 
  • The Hawks had their 15-game home winning streak snapped by the Seahawks on Thursday night, the longest winning streak in school history.
