
Women's Soccer Ties Campbell

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team found a 2-2 draw against Campbell Sunday, October 12.
Charleston's record is now 7-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the CAA. Charleston currently sits in second of the CAA South division with three games left to play ahead of Campbell, William & Mary, Elon, and Hampton.
The contest was moved to Shea Family Fields in Awendaw, S.C. due to inclement weather in the Mount Pleasant area.
Campbell found momentum early, scoring in just the second minute of play. Charleston responded with a shot attempt from Avery Nassetta and a corner kick but could not connect.
Campbell added their second goal of the game in the 15th minute of action to take a 2-0 edge.
Charleston outshot Campbell 6-2 in the final 25 minutes of the first frame. Sienna Petro put the Cougars on the board first with five minutes remaining in the half for her first goal of the season. Faith Slimmer and Shea Vidovic assisted on the play to send Charleston into the locker room down 2-1.
Charleston outshot Campbell eight to six in the first half and took three corners to the Camel's two.
Nassetta equalized the match in the 65th minute off another Vidovic assist. Nassetta had three shots on goal Sunday evening and played all 90 minutes. Vidovic had two assists and five shots in her 63 minutes on the field.
Emma Wennar found herself with a 1-on-1 opportunity with two minutes left to play but could not convert, holding the draw for a point in conference play.
The College had 18 shots total and four corner kicks. Ainsley Chunn saved three shots on the evening.
The Cougars return to action Thursday, October 18 at Patriots Point to host Stony Brook at 7:00 p.m. The game will feature a throwback theme with Charleston branded scarves given out while supplies last.
