SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams competed in the Upstate Invitational hosted by USC Upstate Saturday, October 18. The women placed second of 23 teams in the 5k while the men placed fourth of 20 teams in their third 8k of the season. 

On the women's side, Savannah Stoutt crossed the line first with a new personal best of 18:06.1 while placing ninth. Duo Jeorgi Gavalas and Cayden Crismon went 12th and 13th to score ten and 11 points for the Cougars, while also finding personal bests of 18:09.9 for Gavalas and 18:12.7 for Crismon. Abby Mogg finished 31st with a personal best time of 18:38.5, ten seconds faster than her last 5k. 

For the men, Declan Byrne finished first with a time of 25:08.3 placing 23rd. Byrne scored 14 points for Charleston. Will Buckley was second for Charleston with a time of 25:28.1 scoring 25 points. Finn Myatt saw a new personal best in the 8k with a time of 25:36.4. Myatt placed 39th and scored 29 points.  

The Cougar women scored 63 points while the men scored 132.

Both the men and the women defeated CAA foe Campbell.

Charleston cross country now moves into their conference meet on Friday, October 31. The race will be held in Lakewood, N.J.
