Cougars Fall to Ospreys in Non-Conference Matchup

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team (4-8-1, 1-3-1 CAA) fell 3-0 in a non-conference matchup against North Florida (9-3, 2-0 ASUN) at Patriots Point on Tuesday evening.

North Florida pushed the pace from the start as the Ospreys took their first of 22 shots less than two minutes into the game. In the full 90, North Florida outshot Charleston 22-11 and took six more corners than the Cougars (7-1).

After weathering the Osprey's initial push, Ben Bagshaw had an early look at goal as he fired a shot that was saved by the Ospreys goalie in the sixth minute.

North Florida then took the games' next five shots, but the contest remained 0-0 at the 20-minute mark. Charleston then had two great looks in the 22nd minute as Stian Bendvold sent a strike off the crossbar before Ezequiel Emanuele Goetzke took aim on the rebound, but had his shot blocked by an Osprey defender.

After earning a corner, the Ospreys struck first with a goal in the 30th minute. Both teams remained scoreless for the next 15 minutes and North Florida took a 1-0 advantage into the break.

Coming out of halftime, the Ospreys took a two-goal lead in the 51st minute. Trying to mount a comeback, Matt Lenert had a good look for the Cougars in the 64th minute, but North Florida's goalie made his third save of the game.

North Florida controlled the final 26 minutes, holding Charleston off the board and netting a third goal in the 89th minute as the Ospreys defeated the Cougars 3-0 at Patriots Point on Tuesday night.
