CHARLESTON, S.C. – Four College of Charleston softball players have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for the 2025 season.

The quartet includes Jay Wrightsman, Karlee Hughes, Ryley Kutter and Sierra Paradis. To qualify, a student-athlete must have sophomore standing, at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and play in a designated percentage of their team's games.

Wrightsman, who graduated earlier this month, maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her college career as a biology major at Coastal Carolina and in her one year in Charleston. She plans on attending PA school at MUSC with the goal of becoming a physician assistant with a specialty in pediatrics.

On the field, Wrightsman played in 55 of 56 games with 54 starts in center field. She batted .308 with a team-leading 41 runs scored and set a school record with 30 stolen bases while starring defensively as the anchor of the Cougar outfield.

Hughes finished her junior year with a 3.923 GPA while majoring in exercise science. She has been on the President's List each semester and has been the softball team's Elite 18 representative. A three-year starter at second base, Hughes ranks in the top 10 in school history with 43 career stolen bases and was All-CAA second team as a freshman.

Kutter has compiled a 3.667 GPA through her sophomore year as a marketing major and plans to pursue a master's degree in sports management and a career in Major League baseball or collegiate athletes. She emerged as one of the top pitchers in the CAA this spring, winning seven games with two shutouts and posting a 1.84 era in conference games, the fourth best in the league.

Paradis brings a 3.935 GPA into her senior year as a business administration major and plans on continuing her education with a second degree or master's in accounting. She became the starter at first base during her freshman and was one of two Cougars to start all 56 games in 2025, leading the team with 10 doubles and ranking second with 23 RBI.
