CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston softball program welcomes Associate Head Coach Rob Sidwell, Assistant Coach Rachel Warrens, and Pitching Coach Charli Crawford for the 2025-2026 season.

Head Coach, Maggie Mrowka brings in a new staff for her first year leading the Cougars. Mrowka was named the program's head coach in June after serving as an assistant coach for two seasons with the Cougars, helping lead the Cougars to a 31-25 record and a 20-7 conference record in 2025. Mrowka is the youngest Division I softball head coach in the country.

"I am thrilled to welcome Rob, Charli, and Rachel to Charleston. Together, our staff brings a wide range of backgrounds and skill sets that will be a game-changer this season. The team and I are fortunate to have such talented individuals join us, and I am confident that their experience, expertise, and passion will contribute greatly to the continued growth and success of Cougar Softball" said Mrowka.

Rob Sidwell comes to Charleston from Army where he served as an assistant coach from 2023 to 2025. Before arriving at Army, Sidwell spent a season as an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. Before Sidwell's softball experiences, he was an assistant baseball coach for the Winter Park Diamond Dogs (2018) and for the La Crosse Loggers (2019), before going into management for the teams in 2021. Sidwell spent nearly two decades as a Florida Scouting Supervisor for MLB teams including the San Diego Padres, the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. While working as a scouting supervisor, Sidwell is responsible for signing players like Andrew McCutchen, an outfielder for the Pirates and 2009's Rookie of the Year. Sidwell graduated from Flagler College in Augustine, Florida and holds a master's degree in health science from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

Rachel Warrens is a recent graduate from George Mason University where she earned her bachelor's degree in sport management and a minor in coaching (2023) and earned her master's degree in sport and recreation studies with a concentration in sport management (2024). Warrens helped lead George Mason to the program's first ever Atlantic 10 Championship in 2023. She was named to the All-Rookie Team and All-Conference Team in the spring of 2021. Warrens has spent the last year with the University of Tennessee as a season ticket retention representative, managing $4.4M in renewals and $113k in new sales across all ticketed sports. Warrens also worked for George Mason Athletics as a field house supervisor, growing her background in operations and management.

Mrowka brings in Charli Crawford as a pitching coach for the Cougars. Crawford is a graduate of Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. She has a master's in sports administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Most recently, Crawford has been with Murray State College as an assistant softball coach. In addition to being assistant coach, Crawford helped with fundraising, administrative duties, and eligibility for the team. Crawford was awarded the 2023 NFCA National Assistant Coach of the Year.
Under her coaching, Crawford led the Murray State pitching staff to 316 strikeouts with a 2.915 staff ERA. Her pitchers allowed 170 hits with just two home runs.
