Women's Soccer Shutout Gardner-Webb 5-0

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team conquered Gardner-Webb Thursday, September 11 with a final score of 5-0 at Patriots Point.

With the win, the Cougars move to 3-3-1 on the season.

The Cougars created three goals in the first half with Faith Slimmer recording her 17th career goal to start the night to put her in sole possession of the tenth most goals in program history.

In the 14th minute, Emma Wennar battled for her third goal on the season after finding the assist from Avery Nassetta

Later in the first frame, Bubbles Dever dribbled into the box looking for a shot, but it was deflected by a defender. Nassetta, wanting in on the action, was quick to respond finding the deflection and taking a shot from well beyond the box to make it 3-0 entering the locker room.

After the break, Millie Cluxton scored her first goal of the season and her fourth career goal off the assist from Lilli Ray. The goal came from Cluxton's lone shot on the night in her 35 minutes of playing time.

Junior Bella Antonio took four shots on the night and made the connection in the 84th minute to finish off Cougar goals and make it 5-0.

Charleston offense dominated the field with 23 shots on the night compared to Gardner-Webb's eight. The Cougars forced eight corners while the Runnin' Bulldogs found zero.

The Cougar goalies were able to tally four saves, three from sophomore Ainsley Chunn and one from freshman Lucia Touwsma.
