Matt Lenert's penalty kick in the 70
th minute proved to be all the Cougars needed to secure the 1-0 victory over USC Upstate on Tuesday night at Patriots Point. With the win, Charleston moves to 2-4 on the year. It is the second straight victory at home for Coach
Keith Wiggans' squad.

Issaka Salifu, and
Lennon Gill all had shot opportunities in the opening 45 minutes of play but were unable to connect.
Jourdan Schumacher faced one shot on goal, converting the save as the teams entered the locker room scoreless.
Two early offsides calls in the second half stopped the Cougar momentum before
James Barrett was the fouled inside the box on a breakaway play from midfield. Lenert converted on the penalty stroke with a shot to the lower right corner of the goal for his second tally of the season.
Jourdan Schumacher recorded his second clean sheet in four starts, totaling two saves.
The Cougars outshot the Spartans 17-10 while USC Upstate led the corner kicks on the evening with 13 compared to Charleston's seven.

Charleston returns to Patriots Point on Saturday, September 13 for their first CAA home match of the season, welcoming Campbell to Mount Pleasant. Action is set for 2:00 p.m. The contest will serve as a Pups on the Pitch match – bring your furry friends out to the game! The first 50 dogs will receive a Charleston branded tug toy.
