Cougars Wrap Up ITA Carolina Regional Championships

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team wrapped up competition at the ITA Carolina Regional Championships, held Oct. 8-12, competing in singles and doubles action.
In doubles, Edoardo Santoni and Aryan Karnani opened the tournament with an 8-6 victory over UNC Asheville's Gray and Kolbe. The Cougar duo advanced to the next round, where they faced second-seeded Nicholas Manning and Jules Leroux of NC State, falling 8-1.
In singles qualifying action, ninth-seeded Santoni defeated Furman's Landon Ecarma, 6-4, 6-3, before earning a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Jose Pablo Coello of UNC Wilmington. Santoni later faced Niels Ratiu of North Carolina, falling 2-6, 3-6.
Jakub Solarski advanced in the main draw with a 6-4, 6-1 win over North Carolina's Lachlan Gaskell before falling to South Carolina's Charlie Robertson, 0-6, 0-6.
In qualifying singles, Harry Abel fell to top-seeded Moritz Muenster of UNC Charlotte, 3-6, 4-6, while Aryan Karnani dropped a 4-6 decision to Daniel Franco Key of UNC Asheville. Jacob Smith fell to Kaua Santos of North Carolina A&T, 1-6, 2-6, and Bardo Bucknell lost to Ben Patrick Ostheimer of UNC Charlotte, 2-6, 6-3, 2-6. Jacob Rouleau-Mailly fell to second-seeded Cornelius Alexander Shalmi of Wake Forest, 2-6, 2-6.
In qualifying consolation play, Ram Mude earned a 5-7, 6-4, 10-5 victory over UNC Asheville's Cian Ingles after falling to Elon's Nikola Parichkov, 6-7, 0-6. Rouleau-Mailly also competed in consolation play, falling to UNC Charlotte's Noah Bayon, 5-7, 6-7.
The Cougars will return to action Oct. 23-25 at the Country Club of Birmingham Invitational, hosted by UAB in Birmingham, Ala.
