LAST TIME OUT — The College of Charleston men's soccer team defeated Campbell 2-1 on the road Saturday evening.
The Cougars got on the board first just five minutes into the contest when Henrik Boer fired a dagger shot just outside of the box after a Campbell defender blocked a similar shot from Hogan Walker. Charleston added another goal less than ten minutes later when Michiharu Takanashi placed a pass perfectly to the foot of a sprinting Bemanzi Alibaruho for his second goal of the season in his first career start.
The Camels ended the potential shutout with a goal of their own just before the break to send the Cougars into the locker room up 2-1.
Takanashi almost provided the Cougars third goal of the evening with 25 minutes left to play but ultimately resulted in an offsides call instead against Charleston. Despite wet and rainy conditions during much of the second half, the Cougars were able to hold on to the lead and secure three points in the conference action.
Campbell outshot Charleston 13-6 and took five corner kicks compared to zero for the Cougars. Boer led Charleston with two shots on the night.
BENDVOLD'S BREAKOUT– Bendvold has made an impact throughout the 2026 season, earning CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors after recording a goal and an assist in Charleston's 2-1 win over Campbell. The junior continued his strong play against No. 1 South Carolina, scoring both goals in the Cougars' historic 2-1 victory, including the game-winner in the 85th minute to his second CAA Offensive Player of the Week of the season. The Begby, Norway, native, now has three goals and two assists through eight matches this season.
BEMANZI'S BACK - After missing the 2025 season due to injury, Alibaruho was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after his performance in the Cougars' 2-1 win over Campbell.
Alibaruho scored the game-winning goal in his first career start en route to Charleston's 2-1 victory over Campbell on Saturday. The Jacksonville, Fla., native's 67th-minute strike secured the Cougars' second CAA win of the season.
MATCHUP HISTORY VS. THE PALADINS — The Cougars are 11-19-5 all-time against the Paladins. The last time the teams met on September 16, 2025, Charleston upset then No. 15 Furman in Greenville.Â
