Lenert Named to 2026 Mac Hermann Trophy Watch List

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Matt Lenert was named to the 2026 Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List Monday afternoon.
Lenert is one of 28 forwards in contention for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
In 2025, Lenert played in all 17 of Charleston's matches and made 16 starts. He earned United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic First Team recognition, made the All-CAA First Team and earned CSC Academic All-District acclaim.
During his junior campaign, Lenert totaled five goals - including two game-winners. The Falls Church, Virginia native scored game-winners against then-ranked No. 15 North Carolina on September 1 and against USC Upstate on September 9. The forward's five goals ranked tied for 5th in the CAA in 2025.
The 2026 watch list was compiled by members of the Division I Men's All-America Council from a list of returning 2025 All-Americans and First Team All-Region players. A total of 15 players will be named 2026 Hermann Trophy semifinalists in December at the conclusion of NCAA Division I All-American voting. From that list, head coaches will cast votes, and three players will be named finalists. The 2026 recipient will be announced in January, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis, Mo.
Charleston men's soccer opens the 2026 season at home against Davidson on Thursday, August 20.
