Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team secured its second-straight shutout of the season with a 4-0 victory over South Carolina State at Patriots Point on Thursday, September 3.

Senior Bella Antonio opened the scoring in the 10th minute, firing a low shot past the Bulldog goalkeeper off a pass from Sienna Ward.

Charleston added to its lead in the 27th minute when a free kick following a foul drawn by Sienna Petro created another scoring opportunity for the Cougars. Petro's delivery found Maggie Wadsworth, who sent the ball to Maggie Heffernan for her first goal of the season.

Freshman forward Mary Martin Spinner found the top-right corner from the top of the box in the 30th minute, with Ward recording her second assist of the match on the play.

The Cougars closed out the first half with a 3-0 advantage over the Bulldogs.

Charleston continued to apply pressure in the second half, with Emma Bromley scoring the first goal of her career. Bromley found the left side of the net on the assist from Spinner, who slid to make the cross.

Goalkeeper Ainsley Chunn recorded the shutout, her first solo clean sheet of the season.

The Cougars finished with a season-high 38 shots in the match, the second-highest single-match total in program history.

Charleston will travel to Columbia, S.C. to face South Carolina on Sunday, September 6. Kickoff is set for 6:00pm.
