Danny Wondrack '19 concluded his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the College of Charleston baseball program in the spring of 2022.
 
“Danny Wondrack embodies everything that the College of Charleston baseball program is all about,” head coach Chad Holbrook said. “He is tough, hardworking, relentless, and has a deep love for The College. In my two years coaching Danny in 2018 and 2019, I knew he was going to be a terrific coach and we could not be more excited that he has chosen to join our staff. He has a long and bright future in front of him.”

2022 (Overall Record: 37-20, CAA: 19-3)
  • Captured the program’s second CAA regular season championship with a 19-3 mark in league play
  • Team ranked 20th nationally in ERA (4.12) and 26th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.33)
  • Led the CAA in runs (383), hits (523), RBI (340), walks (260) and strikeouts per nine innings (8.7)
  • Sophomore William Privette was named the CAA Pitcher of the Year and was named the second consensus All-American in program history
  • Privette also led the nation in ERA (0.91), hits allowed per nine innings (4.70) and WHIP (0.78)
  • His 0.91 ERA was the lowest single-season mark in both league and program history
  • Privette was named as a finalist for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year – the first finalist in both program and CAA history
  • The Cougars equaled a program-record with 14 All-CAA selections including first-team selections Privette, JT Marr and Ty Good
  • Freshman Tyler Sorrentino was named CAA Co-Rookie of the Year and was also honored as a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American
  • Marr was named a semifinalist for the Buster Posey Award
  • Cam Dean, Joseph Mershon, Sam Cochrane, Trotter Harlan and Sorrentino were each named to the All-CAA Second Team
  • Graduate student Reed Parris was named All-CAA Honorable Mention
  • Sorrentino and Daniel Brooks were selected to the CAA All-Rookie Team
  • Ty Good ranked 10th nationally with 10 wins
  • Defeated No. 2 Texas, 8-4, on March 15 for the program’s third-ever win over a top-two team
  • Posted a series win over perennial regional participant East Carolina (Mar. 18-20)
  • Equaled the program-record for home winning percentage (.833), finishing 25-5 at Patriots Point
  • Finished the regular season undefeated at home in league play for the first time in program history
  • Junior Caswell Smith signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks as an undrafted free agent
2021 (Overall Record: 27-25, CAA: 12-12)
  • Team ranked seventh nationally in both double plays (50) and double plays per game (0.96)
  • Team also ranked 22nd nationally in walks allowed per nine innings (3.15)
  • Senior outfielder Harrison Hawkins was named to the All-CAA First Team after leading the CAA with 54 RBI
  • Jared Kirven, Joseph Mershon, Tanner Steffy and Trey Pooser were each honored on the All-CAA Second Team
  • Mershon and Pooser both collected CAA All-Rookie Team recognition as well
  • Team established two single-season records for both team (8) and individual (3, Harrison Hawkins) grand slams
  • Team finished third at the CAA Championship with wins over Towson, William & Mary and Elon
  • Defeated Clemson in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history with a 13-6 win in Clemson on April 13
  • Team set 10 program CAA Tournament records including new team marks for games played, runs, hits, home runs, RBI and total bases
  • Steffy established three program CAA Tournament records for hits, RBI and total bases
  • Jordan Carr signed a professional contract with the Minnesota Twins organization
Playing Career
  • Appeared in 183 games over four seasons at College of Charleston
  • Ranks sixth all-time with 35 career home runs while also ranking 13th in walks (96) and 14th in RBI (133)
  • Among the program’s all-time leaders with a .992 fielding percentage
  • Threw out 39 runners on the base paths
  • Named to the 2019 ABCA/Rawlings All-Atlantic Region Second Team
  • Earned a spot on the All-CAA First team as a senior
  • Led the CAA in home runs and slugging percentage in 2019
  • Led the Cougars in batting average (.318), home runs (15), RBI (51), total bases (127) and slugging percentage (.593) in 2019
