Lynn Walsh enters her fourth year as the Director of Athletics Communications and Creative Content at the College of Charleston.
In her role, Walsh heads the athletics communications office while serving as the primary contact for the Cougars' men's basketball, men's golf, women's golf and beach volleyball programs. She was named to the inaugural College Sports Communicators 30 Under 30 class in November 2022. Walsh helped double the Cougars social media metrics during her first two years in Charleston. In 2022, the Cougars ranked 98th in total social interactions, 74th in interaction rate, 87th in total views and experienced the third-best growth rate in DI men’s basketball.
Walsh comes to Charleston by way of Bridgewater College. She joined the Eagles' athletic department in 2018 as part of an NCAA Ethnic Minorities and Women's Internship Grant before being promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Media Relations in July 2021 and assuming the title of Director of Athletic Media Relations in September 2021.
While at Bridgewater, she was the primary contact for men's and women's basketball, outdoor track & field, volleyball and softball. She was also responsible for maintaining the athletic website, game day operations for all 22 sports, designing print publications, coordinating video production and photography for the athletic department, operating social media pages and overseeing student interns while serving as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee advisor.
Walsh helped Bridgewater gain national attention through the NCAA Division III social media channels while increasing the Eagles' social media presence by over 500,000 impressions. In addition to her media relations responsibilities, she coordinated the Eagles' ticket operations and assisted with Covid-19 standard operating procedures for the department.
She has attended the NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar, the NCAA/Women Leaders in College Sports Women's Leadership Symposium, Women Leaders in College Sports Institute for Administrative Advancement and served as an in-game promotions team member at the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse National Championship. Walsh is a member of the CoSIDA Young Professionals Committee and serves as the Athletic Communications Circle Lead for Women Leaders in College Sports. She also previously served on the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship Region III Selection Committee.
A former student-athlete, she played four years of volleyball at the University of Lynchburg. A team captain as a junior and senior, she graduated fourth all-time in program history with 1,929 assists. She also led the team in service aces in her final season.
During her undergraduate career, Walsh served as a sideline reporter for the Lynchburg Hornets Sports Network, which has been recognized as one of the top Division III sports networks. In addition to in-game responsibilities, she also produced, edited and hosted weekly video segments for the network while assisting with social media operations for the Hornets.
A Maryland native, she graduated magna cum laude from Lynchburg in 2018 with a degree in communication studies with a convergent journalism emphasis. She earned highest honors in communication studies, completed the Westover Honors Program, and received the Woody Greenberg Award for excellence in journalism and public relations. She recently completed a master's degree in sport management from Georgia Southern University.
