With their victory, the Mocs became the first seventh-seed to advance to the finals since the tournament team format was adopted in 1998.
The Mocs picked up the first point of the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. At the number one position, Chattanooga's Ryan Fitzgerald and Arturo Navarro downed Philipp Koller and Mike Reynolds, 8-5. At number two doubles, Artyom Vlasenko and Mark Flynn of Chattanooga knocked off Liram Kling and Timo Siebert, 8-5. Picking up a win for the College of Charleston at the number three spot were Jimmy Petit and Justin Malina, who were 8-3 winners over Tim Kutschera and Michael Hangstefer.
In singles action Chattanooga and the College of Charleston each won three singles matches. For Chattanooga, Badr Boubdellah, Flynn and Navarro each picked up a win. Kling, Malina and Reynolds were victorious for the Cougars.
The match was tied at 3-3 when Navorro closed out Timo Siebert at number one singles, giving the Mocs the victory.
Chattanooga will now play top-seeded East Tennessee State in the finals Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
