#articleRelated { display: none !important; } Kosha Lance finished third in the hammer throw and Summer Chambless shattered her own school record in the pole vault to lead the College of Charleston to a fifth place finish after one day of the Southern Conference Championships in Cullowhee, N.C.

Lance's throw of 169-00, her second best throw of the spring, secured a third place finish and gave the Cougars their first points of the championships. With the third place finish, Lance earned All-SoCon honors for the second straight year.

Summer Chambless, a freshman from Heflin, Ala., broke her own school record of 10-00.00 with a vault of 10-06.00 to tie for fourth place and pick up valuable points for the Cougars.

The Southern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships will culminate on Sunday, May 1 at 9:00 a.m.
