Furman Defeats Cougars 4-1

Second seeded Furman defeated third seeded College of Charleston , 4-1, in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Championships at the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel.
Furman improves to 19-10 while the College of Charleston concludes the 2006 campaign at 17-6.
Furman picked up the doubles point, claiming victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 pairings with two tightly-contested wins at those positions. Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman defeated Omer Abramovich and Mike Reynolds 9-8 at No. 2, while Andy Juc and Scott Kahler claimed an 8-4 over Justin Malina and Jimmy Petit at the No. 3 position
With an ominous weather forecast, singles play began with Furman getting on the board with wins at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions. Bo Ladyman scored a 6-4, 6-3 victory Omer Abramovich at No. 4, while Daniel Knause got a 6-4, 6-3 win over Ashok Ramanchandra at No. 5. After several rain delays, Furman clinched the match when Andy Juc held off Marcus DiGliodo 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 2 position.
The Paladins advance to the finals where they will meet No. 4 Chattanooga on Sunday, April 23 at 10:30 a.m. at the Earle Tennis Center on the campus of The Citadel.
