No. 75 CofC Men's Tennis Defeats No. 59 Furman, 6-1
The victory improves No. 75 CofC to 13-1 overall and 6-1 in the Southern Conference while the loss drops Furman to 12-10 and 4-2 in the SoCon.
The Cougars won two out of the three doubles matches to earn one team point. The CofC team of Omer Abramovich and Jimmy Petit improved its doubles record to 7-3 on the season with an 8-5 win in the No. 1 doubles match over Ryan Friend and Andy Sobczyk of Furman. The other doubles win for CofC came from the team of Marcos Digliodo and Or Dekel, who beat Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman, 8-3, and improved its record to 10-2.
CofC won five out of the six singles matches to clinch the victory. Abramovich stayed undefeated for the season and got his 13th singles win with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Ladyman in the No. 3 singles match. Dekel improved his season record to 13-1 with a 6-4, 6-0 win over No. 68 Andy Juc of Furman in the No. 1 singles match. Digliodo won his eighth straight match and improved to 9-3 with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Sobczyk in the No. 2 singles match. Justin Malina and Steven Myers also picked up singles wins for the Cougars.
