
Furman Downs CofC, 4-0, at SoCon Men's Tennis Championship

Top-seeded Furman defeated 8th-seeded College of Charleston, 4-0, in quarterfinal action at the Southern Conference Men's Tennis Championship at The Citadel's Earle Tennis Center on Friday.
Charleston ends the season with an 8-17 record. The Cougars had advanced to the second round after beating Chattanooga, 4-2, on Thursday. The 67th-ranked Paladins advance with a 14-10 record.
In doubles competition, the team of Bo Ladyman and Jordan Walters earned the first win for the Paladins with an 8-4 victory over Joe Nicolazzi and Mickael Boyer. College of Charleston evened the score with a win at number three doubles when Jimmy Petit and Ross Moyer downed Chris Rhyne and Andrei Chvetsov, 8-2. Andy Juc and Chris Motes clinched the point with a close 9-7 win at number one doubles over Omer Abramovich and Steven Myers.
In singles play, Daniel Knause earned a quick point for the Paladins, topping Steven Myers 6-0, 6-2. In flight five singles, Jordan Walters defeated Christopher Carlton 6-2, 6-4, and Bo Ladyman finished the match for Furman with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mickael Boyer.
Abramovich, who earned All-Southern Conference honors, finished the season with a 14-7 record at No. 1 singles for the Cougars.
