The Cougars (28-29, 9-6) are tied for third in the SoCon and went 2-1 April 19 and 20, at home against UNC
Shannon Howard (16-10) went 3-0 on the week and was named the Southern Conference co-Pitcher of the Week along with the Lady Mocs' Brooke Loudermilk. From the plate, Howard is batting .301?third on the team?and leads the squad with six home runs, 11 doubles and 33 RBI. Kristie Shifflett and Katie Nutaitis both have four homers on the season and Brittany Small leads the team in triples. Small's five triples put her in a 10th-place tie in NCAA Division I standings.
The league-leading Lady Mocs (34-15, 12-1) swept host Furman in
Michelle Fuzzard leads the team with a .375 batting average and 30 RBI. Katie Blevins has belted three triples and 13 home runs on the season to lead in both categories. Loudermilk (13-6) is UTC's ace pitcher. She owns a 1.90 ERA through 139.2 innings pitched, including 11 complete games. Loudermilk has struck out 178 batters in 508 at-bats.
First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is a 1 p.m. and Sunday's series finale will start at 2 p.m.
