CofC Falls to Davidson in Overtime, 3-2

Davidson's Alex Caskey converted a penalty kick in the second minute of overtime to lead the Wildcats to the 3-2 victory over the College of Charleston men's soccer team this evening in Southern Conference action in Davidson, N.C.
With the loss the Cougars fell to 6-4 overall and 0-1 in the league, while Davidson improved to 7-1 and 1-0.
Charleston posted two goals in the first half with Zach Prince scoring first for the Cougars at 18:24 off the assist by Matt Morris. Francis Twohig split two defenders inside the 18-yard box to take Charleston up 2-0 at 44:34. Morris was credited with the assist on that goal as well.
Mid-way through the second half Davidson responded with two back-to-back goals to tie the game. The first came at 71:03 from Allen Page, with the assist by Charlie Reiter. The second came just a minute later at 72:02. This time it was Reiter with the goal and Yannick Pilgrim with the assist.
Regulation ended with the score tied at two but just two minutes into the first overtime period, Charleston was called for a foul inside the box and Caskey converted the penalty kick at 92:18 for the game-winner.
Davidson held the 22-10 advantage in shots, with the Cougars posting seven saves the Wildcats' three. Ralph Lundy had three shot and one shot on goal to lead the Cougars with Morris following with two assists. Leading Davidson was Reiter with three shots, a goal and an assist.
The Cougars next step out of conference action with a 1:00 p.m. match against Alabama A&M in Normal, Ala. Oct. 3.
