Lenert Earns CAA Offensive Player of the Week Honors

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston senior forward Matt Lenert was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week after an impressive opening week to the 2026 season.
During the first week of the year, Lenert scored or assisted on all four Cougar goals, totaling three goals, one assist and a game-winner against FGCU to help the Cougars start the season 1-0-1.
After earning spots on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and the Preseason CAA Team, Lenert wasted no time making his mark in his senior season. The Falls Church, Virginia native had a standout performance against FGCU Sunday night. Lenert scored twice against the Eagles, including the game-winner in the 86th minute, and tabbed an assist.
The brace was the second of Lenert's career, while his game-winner was the fourth of his career. Through the first two matches, Lenert leads the Cougars with seven points and is shooting an impressive .500 on the young season.
This was Lenert's first career CAA Offensive Player of the Week award.
Charleston will open CAA play Friday, August 28 as the Cougars host Campbell for a 6 p.m. kickoff. Friday evening will feature a 'Friday Night Futbol' theme and Charleston branded soccer scarfs will be given away while supplies last.
