
CofC Men?s Soccer Set for JU/NIKE Invitational This Weekend

The College of Charleston men's soccer team will take part in the 2009 JU/NIKE Invitational this weekend on the campus of Jacksonville University. The Cougars will take on Stetson on Friday, Sept. 25th at 5 p.m., then battle host Jacksonville in the invitational's finale on Sunday, Sept. 27th at 2:30 p.m.
The Cougars, 6-1 on the year and currently ranked 26th in the CollegeSoccerNews.com National Top 30, split a pair of matches last weekend, as they fell to Lehigh, 3-2 and beat Bucknell 3-2. In the Bucknell match, Zach Prince scored the game-winner in the 87th minute.
On the year, Matt Morris leads the team offensively with 9 points (three goals, three assists), while Prince has two goals and two assists. In goal, Clark Hankins has made 21 saves, recorded three shutout victories and has a goals against average of 1.32.
Stetson comes into this weekend with a 5-0 record on the year. In their last match on Sept. 20 against Hofstra, the Hatters picked up a 1-0 shutout victory. On the year, Stetson has outscored their opponents by a 10-2 margin.
Offensively, Griffin Gilstrap is the team's statistical leader with three goals and two assists, while in goal, Logan Potter has made 18 saves, with a 0.40 goals against average.
Jacksonville, 1-3-1 on the year, beat St. Joe's 4-0 in their last match on Sept. 20. The Dolphins will entertain Alabama A&M on Friday night before playing the Cougars. The leading scorer for the squad is Jonathan Jackson with a goal and an assist, while goalie Joey Sanchez has made 11 saves in net for the Dolphins.
