
CofC Men?s Soccer Looks to Bounce Back in SoCon Opener at Davidson

The College of Charleston men's soccer team will open Southern Conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Davidson. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Cougars, 6-3 on the year, are looking to bounce back after a tough weekend of action at the JU/NIKE Invitational. Charleston first lost to Stetson 5-4 in double overtime on Friday, then fell to host Jacksonville, 5-3 on Sunday.
For the season, Matt Morris is the team's offensive leaders with three goals scored and three assists (nine points), while Francis Twohig and John Bello have also scored three goals. Freshman Ralph Lundy, III is the squad's assist leader with four. Goalie Clark Hankins has been the Cougars' primary keeper making 21 saves, while posting a goals against average of 1.32.
Davidson comes into conference play sporting a 6-1-0 overall mark and knocked off No. 25 South Carolina in their last match on Sept. 25th, 4-1. The victory was the fourth straight for the Wildcats.
On the season, Davidson is led offensively by Alex Caskey, who has five goals, while Charlie Reiter is the team's point leader with 13 (four goals and five assists). Goalie Chip Sanders has made 20 saves in net for the Wildcats and has a 1.26 goals against average.
Last season, the Cougars blanked the Wildcats 3-0 at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium. All-time since becoming a full-time Division I member in 1991, Charleston leads the series over Davidson 9-8.
