No. 65 Men's Tennis Sweeps Delaware in CAA Championship Opener

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The No. 2 seed College of Charleston men's tennis team swept the Blue Hens of Delaware University on Friday, 4-0, at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center on campus at the College of William and Mary to advance to its first ever appearance in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship semifinals.
The Cougars (17-5) clinched the doubles point with an 8-4 win by the court two tandem of Rodrigo Encinas and Crescente Lesser, who defeated the Blue Hens' duo of Evan Andrews and Zack Niklaus, as well as an 8-1 victory by the court three pairing of Charlie Ghriskey and Zack Lewis.
In singles, CofC's Alon Faiman gave his team a 2-0 lead by beating Puterio, 6-0, 6-1. Ghriskey followed with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sweet on court five and Lewis finished the match by topping Mike Furr, 6-1, 7-5, on court four.
Next up for the Cougars is a semifinal showdown against the No. 3 seed College of William and Mary on Saturday, with doubles play set to begin at 10 a.m.
