CHARLESTON, S.C. – Riding into the weekend on a two-game unbeaten spree, the College of Charleston men's soccer team (3-5-2; 1-2-2 vs. CAA) will look to keep the ball rolling this weekend when they visit the Delaware Blue Hens (8-4-1; 3-2 vs. CAA) for a 7 p.m. showdown on Saturday night.
The College will enter the game coming straight off a tie at home with the (RV) UNCW Seahawks (6-2-2; 1-0-2 vs. CAA). The Cougars dominated play for the first 60 minutes of the game, which was capped off by a goal from Nicolas Jeausseran (59') on a feed from Nico Rittmeyer. The Seahawks responded with a goal of their own to force overtime, but CofC held firm against the strong UNCW push to hold on for a tie. Kevin Shields made six saves across 110 minutes in frame.
Delaware's Guillermo Delgado is making a strong case for CAA Player of the Year honors thus far through 2016, as the senior leads the conference in goals (eight), assists (six), points (22) and shots per game (3.00). The Cougars will certainly need to account for him when the Blue Hens take possession. In frame, Todd Morton has played all 13 games for UD, and he boasts a 0.89 GAA and six shutouts on only 41 saves.
This will be just the second time since joining the CAA that the College will make the trek to Newark, the last two meeting occurring at Patriots Point. The Blue Hens hold the 3-0 series advantage.
