Shields’ Career High 12 Saves Not Enough vs. (RV) Huskies

SEATTLE, WASH. - The College of Charleston men's soccer team couldn't stand up to the flurry of shots from the (RV) Washington Huskies (5-2) on Sunday, falling 2-0 and dropping to 2-3-2 on the year.
• In defeat, Kevin Shields turned in a heroic effort in goal for the Cougars. Of the Huskies' 27 shots on the day, 14 of them found their way on frame, and Shields walked away with 12 saves which smashed his former career-high of nine. He tallied that total last season against UC Santa Barbara.
• The Huskies broke through in the 21st minute when a foul in the box led to a PK opportunity. Shields battled away the opening attempt, but Scott Menzies charged forward and buried the deflection. Eighteen minutes later, the Huskies got on the board again when Garret Jackson finished off the feed from Handwalla Bwana.
• Of the Cougars' six opponents thus far, four of them have received recognition in the NSCAA Coaches poll at some point this season.
The College will play its second CAA game of the season on Saturday when it travels to Hempstead, N.Y. to take on Hofstra (3-3-1) at 7 p.m.
