Men’s Soccer Staggers in 4-0 Defeat
9/24/2016 9:23:00 PM | Men's Soccer
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team (2-4-1; 0-1-1 vs. CAA) had a difficult outing in their second CAA contest of the season, falling 4-0 to the Hofstra Pride (4-3-1; 2-0 vs. CAA) at James M. Shuart Stadium Saturday.
• The Pride put the game into a lopsided state early, picking up goals by Meshack Addy Eshun in the ninth minute and Danny Elliott in the 15th minute. They went into the locker room with a 9-4 shot advantage at half. Elliott would score his second of the game late (80'), and Daniel Massey followed suit almost exactly two minutes later (82').
• Kevin Shields matched his second-highest save total of his career with nine in defeat. That comes one game removed from his career-high effort against Washington, where he came up with 12 saves.
• The Cougars struggled to find quality chances all night. Of their seven shots on the evening, five were blocked, and two sailed wide. Nicolas Jeausseran led the Cougars with five shots on the night, but none of them found their way to either of the Hofstra keepers.
The Cougars return home to Patriots Point for the first time in over two weeks on Wednesday when they host the Coastal Carolina Chantileers (2-4-1) at 7 p.m.
