
Cougars Host Palmetto Intercollegiate In Final Fall Test

CHARLESTON, S.C. – One more fall test is ahead for the College of Charleston women's golf team as the Cougars play host to the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Oct. 22-24 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course on Kiawah Island, S.C.
The par-72 course will play at 5,981 yards. This year's tournament field includes CofC, Campbell, Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Daytona State, East Tennessee State, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Marshall, Mercer, Mississippi, North Florida, Old Dominion, Troy, Tulsa, UNCG and Xavier.
For their final fall tournament of the season, the Cougars will start sophomore Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), who boasts a team-best 76.67 stroke average, and senior Josefine Garton (Linkoping, Sweden), who is averaging 76.83 with two Top-30 finishes this fall.
Sophomore Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany), freshman Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England) and freshman Clarissa von Stosch (Kassel, Germany) round out CofC's starters. Playing as individuals are junior Anna Buchanan (Athens, Ga.), sophomore Yuki Nakayama (Kawasaki, Japan) and sophomore Savanah Goodman (Easley, S.C.).
"We look forward to finishing our fall season on a high note," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "The course is in perfect shape and the team looks ready to have a good weekend."
The Palmetto Intercollegiate, which began in 1999, will be played for the fourth time in the history of the tournament at Turtle Point.
Campbell is the defending tournament champion shooting a three-round score of 879 (+15) to take home last year's team trophy. Coastal Carolina finished two strokes back of the Camels (+17), while CofC was third (+19). Katy Harris of Ole Miss was last year's individual medalist (-4) finishing one-stroke ahead of Malene Krolboll Hansen of Coastal Carolina (-3).
Sunday's first round will be split tee times off the No. 1 and No. 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. (ET), while Monday's second round (depending on the weather forecast) will be split tee times or a shotgun start at either 8:30 a.m. (ET) or 8:45 a.m. (ET). An 8:45 a.m. (ET) shotgun start is scheduled for Tuesday's final round.
CofC will be paired with Chattanooga and Kansas in tomorrow's opening round and start off the back nine. Live tournament scoring will be available for all three rounds at: www.Golfstat.com.
