
Cougars Chase Off Runnin' Bulldogs in 6-1 Victory

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team (1-0) claimed victory in its first ever meeting with Gardner-Webb, winning 6-1 to chase off the Runnin' Bulldogs.
CofC emerged with the doubles point in the top two flights of play. Turner Yates teamed up with Laura Arciniegas in the second flight to strike first with a 6-2 win. Anastasia Palaska and Christi Woodson finished the job in top flight play, where they picked up a 6-3 decision.
Yates would go on to claim a sixth flight singles victory over Paula Romero (6-2, 6-1), while Palaska won her third flight encounter 6-4, 6-3 against GWU's Daniela Naupari.
Rachel McNeely was the first one to draw blood in single action, battling past Sarah Rieckmann 6-0, 6-2. Helena Nyikos defeated Sandra Bolstad 6-2, 6-1 in the top flight, while freshman Catalina Medici rounded things out with her first collegiate win against Valentine Limauge (6-4, 3-6, 10-4).
With tomorrow's match against North Carolina A&T canceled due to snow on the courts, the Cougars will wrap up their season-opening road-trip n Saturday against Wake Forest.
