CHARLESTON, S.C. – Head women's soccer coach
Christian Michner has announced the signing of eight student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on a productive national signing day for the College of Charleston women's soccer program.
Olivia Freitas – 5'4" – Forward
Rehoboth, Mass. – La Selle Academy
A 2017-18 Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year, Olivia Freitas joins the College of Charleston from La Selle Academy, having been named Division 1 Champions for Rhode Island soccer in 2015 and 2017. During her junior season Freitas led the Rams and the whole of Rhode Island Division 1 soccer with 25 goals and 11 assists, this season she leads both again with 17 goals and nine assists. Freitas, a potent forward, played club for the Boston Breakers from 2015-17, being crowned an ECNL National Champion in 2016. A 2018 high school All-American game selection, All-State Rhode Island Player of the Year, 2017 High School Player of the Year (Rhode Island) and 2017 NSCA High School All-American, Freitas follows in the footsteps of her older sister
Ali Freitas, who recently completed her playing career at The College.
Caitlyn Gonzalez – 5'3" – Midfielder
Austin, Texas. – Veritas Academy
Caitlyn Gonzalez joins The College from Veritas Academy having helped them to two TAPP 3A State Championships in her freshman and sophomore seasons. Gonzalez has played club soccer with Lonestar Soccer Club for the past 10 years, playing with both the U18/19 squad as a U17 player and being invited to national training centers to train with other elite soccer players from around the country. A multi-sport athlete, Gonzalez also earned first team all-district on the basketball court in her freshman and sophomore years while earning second team all-state for her performances on the soccer field the same years.
Liv Green – 5'6" – Defender
Houston, Texas. – Stratford High School
A three-time All-District selection at center back, Liv Green signs with the Cougars from Stratford High School in Houston, Texas. After helping the Spartans to playoffs from grades 9-11, Green earned defensive MVP for her team from 2016-18 while being the featured athlete for the Houston Chronicle in Feb. 2016. Green was named First Team All-District Defensive Player of the Year for 2018 and team MVP for Stratford Varsity the same year. After playing 11 years with the Albion Hurricanes, Green was named the ECNL Players Player of the Year in 2017-18 after helping the Hurricanes to playoffs in both Seattle (2018) and Chicago (2017).
Sophie Job – 5'4" – Midfielder
Charleston, S.C. – Wando High School
Sophie Job joins the College of Charleston after earning three varsity letters at Wando High School as a midfielder. Playing eight years of club soccer for 01 Girls Premier, Job comes to The College having won the CASL Showcase, WAGS Showcase and Disney Showcase in 2017 while also being a two-time State Cup Champion.
Grace Powell – 5'9" – Forward
Daniel Island, S.C. - Pinewood Preparatory Academy
A South Carolina AAA Regional Player of the Year in 2017-18, Grace Powell joins the College from Pinewood Prep. A 2018 Regional Champion and 2018 State Runner-up, Powell finished her high school career with 73 career goals, a two-time all-state selection, three-time all-region selection and HSSR Miss Soccer (SCISA) for 2018. After playing two years with South Carolina United, Powell was named a 2018 ECNL PDP Partipant, 2018 Player to Watch and 2018 ECNL TX standout. She also made two trips with the U.S. Youth Futsal National Team to Colombia in 2016 and Costa Rica in 2017.
Lauren Sandidge – 5'6" – Defender
Moroe, Ga. – Archer High School
A four-year letterwinner with the Archer Tigers, Lauren Sandidge signs with The College having made regional playoffs during her sophomore, junior and senior campaigns. A two-time all-county selection and four-time all-region selection, Sandidge finished her career with the second most assists in Archer history. A ten-year veteran with GSA club soccer, Sandidge captained the team for the past two seasons, leading them to a State Cup Championship and the ECNL Nationals.
Natalie Sgro – 5'6" – Midfielder
Gladwyne – Pa. – The Baldwin School
Finishing her time at Baldwin with nine varsity letters in three sports, Natalie Sgro signs with The College having been named to the second team All-Main Line three years running and the second team All Inter-AC for the past three seasons. Sgro holds the single game scoring record for Baldwin by scoring five in a single game and has played club soccer for Continental FC for the past four seasons. At club level, Sgro has captained her team the past three seasons, advancing to the ECNL Playoffs in 2016 and 2017.
Hannah Sills – 5'4" – Winger
Clover, S.C. – Clover High School
A product of Carolina Elite Soccer Academy, Hannah Sills joins The College having qualified for Nationals over the past three seasons with CESA. This season, Sills is part of a team that is into the quarterfinal round and in second position in the bracket. Sills, skilled in both defense and forward positions, earned one varsity letter at Clover High School, scoring the most goals on her team over her sophomore season, helped the team to be ranked no. 1 nationally for the majority of the year. While playing for the Blue Eagles she also reached the semifinal round of the state tournament.
