
Offensive Outburst Propels Cougars to Sweep of Tribe

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. --- Four players recorded at least nine kills, including a match-high 14 from Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.), and Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) moved into third on the Colonial Athletic Association's all-time assists list to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a dominating straight-set sweep of William & Mary on Friday evening.
With the win, College of Charleston (19-10, 10-5 CAA) maintains its hold on the third spot in the CAA standings following its 25-15, 25-10, 25-18 sweep of William & Mary (5-19, 1-14 CAA). The Cougars finished the match with 51 kills, 46 digs, six blocks, five service aces, and a .333 hitting percentage, while holding the Tribe to 27 kills, 40 digs, five blocks, and a .120 attacking clip.
Rachel paced the offense with 14 kills, three digs, and a .400 (14-2-30) hitting percentage, while Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) hit .409 with 11 kills to go along with seven digs. Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.) needed only 12 swings to collect nine kills, hitting .750 for the match while posting two solo blocks. Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) put down nine kills and added a match-high four blocks.
Beckman delivered another masterful performance running the offense, dishing out a match-high 44 assists while also tacking on three digs, two kills, and two blocks. The senior setter has reached the 40-assist mark in nine straight matches, while moving into third on the CAA's career assists list early in the first set.
Logan Manusky (San Diego, Calif.) paced the defense with a match-high 16 digs, as McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) added 14 digs and a contest-best two service aces.
Lauren Merrill led the way for William & Mary with 10 kills, 10 digs, and two blocks, as Katie Kemp distributed 22 assists. Lauren Moussaid collected 15 digs.
The Cougars close out the regular season on Sunday when they travel to Elon, N.C. to take on Elon at 2:00 pm.
