Clearwater, Fla. – Central Michigan scored four times in the sixth inning to rally past the College of Charleston by a score of 6-2 on the final day of the USF Under Armour Invitational in Clearwater, Fla.

The Cougars (10-7) went 3-2 on the weekend and return home to face Youngstown State in a twinbill on Wednesday beginning at 5 p.m. Charleston then plays host to the Holy City Invitational at Patriots Point starting Friday.

The Cougars scored a run in the second on a double by Sara Garcia and RBI single by Taylor Belfiore, and made it 2-0 an inning later when Dexlie Inman singled and was plated by Kelly Sinclair's base hit. Sinclair had seven hits, drove in eight runs and scored four times in the five-game tournament.

The double for Garcia was the 29th of her career, moving the senior into a tie for 16th place in school history.

Although the Chippewas were able to create several scoring opportunities over the first four innings, stranding six runners over that span, they were kept off the board by Izzy Berouty until tallying an unearned run in the fifth.

CMU then took the lead in the sixth, using a pair of two-out, two-run singles by Maison Kalina and Morgan Gardner to go in front 5-2. Berouty (7-2) took the loss, allowing nine hits and four earned runs in 4.2 innings while Laura Vaccaro worked three innings of one-hit shutout relief to pick up the win.
