HAMPTON, VA. – Charleston defeated Hampton in an 8-0 shutout for the series win Sunday, April 19 in Hampton, Va.
The Cougars are now 23-23 overall and 12-6 in the CAA.
Kendall Thackston had a season high five strikeouts against the Pirates in five innings of work.

- Charleston took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Leela Langston hit a sacrifice fly for an RBI and Bronwyn Conroy scored.
- The Cougars tripled their lead in the top of the second when Hailey Seymour and Karlee Hughes each hit RBI doubles.
- CofC tallied a five-run top of the fifth, beginning with Langston being hit by the pitch with bases loaded. Conroy scored off another sacrifice hit for the fifth run by the Cougars. Austy Miller drove in two for the sixth and seventh runs and scored off Seymour's single for the eighth.
- Thackston struck one out in the bottom of the inning to clinch the run rule and leave the final score 8-0.
- Thackston allowed just three hits and threw 65 pitches.
- Charleston had nine hits against Hampton, and four Cougars had at least two.
- Conroy is now on a seven-game hitting streak recording 12 hits in that time. She records 21 hits in league action.
- Charleston hosts Charleston Southern for a doubleheader Wednesday, April 22 with game one beginning at 3 p.m. and game two to follow at 5 p.m.
