HAMPTON, VA. – College of Charleston softball fell 2-1 against Hampton in game two of the road series Saturday, April 18.
The Cougars are now 22-23 and 11-6 in league action.
In the circle, Ryley Kutter had a career high nine strikeouts across 7.2 innings of work.

CRITICAL POINTS
- Kutter ended the first inning with a strikeout and held the Pirates scoreless through four innings. She tallied three strikeouts in the bottom of the second throwing just two balls in the frame.
- The Cougars would record one hit in the top of the third from Bronwyn Conroy but would not connect before the third out.
- Leading off in the top of the fifth, Savannah Scott doubled on the first pitch to enter scoring position. Scott advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Abby Driscoll before scoring off a fielder's choice for a 1-0 lead.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Hampton would respond with a run of their own to tie the game 1-1. The game would remain tied through the seventh despite three more strikeouts from Kutter.
- Hampton had a base hit with bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth for the walk-off leaving the final score 2-1.
- Conroy, Scott and Halle Cannon each had hits against Hampton. Cannon is on a four-game hitting streak while Conroy is on a six-game hitting streak.
- Sierra Paradis tallied her seventh RBI Saturday.
- Kutter only walked one Pirate and threw 128 pitches.
- Charleston will play Hampton Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m. for the series finale at Hampton Softball Stadium.
- Following the conference series, the Cougars are set to host Charleston Southern Wednesday, April 22 for a doubleheader at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
