KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team saved its best for last – carding the lowest round amongst the 22 teams in the tournament field – on the final day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Tuesday at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course.

Behind three under-par rounds from junior Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), senior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) and junior Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.), the Cougars claimed a one-stroke victory over runner-up Coastal Carolina after being in fifth after 36 holes.

CofC turned in a three-round score of 864 (E) – the second-lowest 54-hole team total in tournament history, while Coastal Carolina with an 865 (+1) – the third-lowest 54-hole team total in tournament history.

It marked the Cougars' second tournament win of the fall season behind a school-record finish to hoist the team trophy at the Elon Invitational on Sept. 24.

"Once again, our team had such a strong will to win," said CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell, who recorded his 29th career coaching victory. "They just don't crack. Somebody's going to have to beat them. We were the only team under par today. They just never blinked. It was another great performance."

Hamilton shot a 2-under par 70 with four birdies, while Huskey and Tindal carded final-round 71s. Huskey finished tied for 12th individually with Becca Earl of Wofford at even par for the tournament.

For the second-straight tournament, freshman Emily Dunlap (Greenville, S.C.) was CofC's top finisher with rounds of 70, 71 and 73 to finish at 2-under for the tournament and ninth overall.

"What I like is that no one got an all-tournament team award and no one won the tournament individually," Futrell said. "We won because we are that strong 1 through 5. You have a special team when you can do something like that. As I've told people, 'every week we are good.' We are always going to be in this position and our team has learned how to play in this position."

Nicole Lorup of Troy earned individual medalist honors with a 9-under par 207. She carded a school-record, course-record and tournament-record 65 in the second round. Her 207 was also a record for lowest individual 54-hole total in tournament history.

No. 65-ranked Brigitte Thibault of Fresno State (-6) was the individual runner-up. Jana Melichova of Old Dominion (-5), Tia Teiniketo of UAB (-4), Daniela Gonzalez of North Florida (-4) and Jenjira Jinangkul of Coastal Carolina (-4) were on the all-tournament team.

The Cougars will close out fall tournament play at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational hosted by the University of Hawai'i on Oct. 28-30 at the Kapolei Golf Club in Kapolei, Hawai'i.

"We just have to make sure Hawai'i is not a total vacation and that we remember we have to play golf out there," Futrell said. "And, our team will. Obviously, we are going to go in there with a lot of confidence."
