CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's golf team will embark on the toughest spring schedule in program history opening the season at the UCF Challenge hosted by UCF on Feb. 2-4 at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
The 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72 course totaling 6,349 yards. Host and No. 36 UCF is one of seven Top 40-ranked teams in the tournament field along with No. 3 Kent State, No. 13 Michigan State, No. 14 Illinois, No. 15 Oklahoma State, No. 39 Miami and No. 40 Iowa State.
Starting for the Cougars will be senior Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.), junior Olivia Hamilton (Oakenshaw, England), junior Jodee Tindal (Rock Hill, S.C.), freshman Emily Dunlap (Greenville, S.C.) and senior Anna-Theresa Rottluff (Dusseldorf, Germany).
Tindal leads the team with a 71.93 stroke average after playing in five fall tournaments including a tournament individual title at the Elon Invitational. She is currently ranked just outside of the Top 100 players in the country at No. 105 according to Golfstat.com.
"It's early yet, but we are looking forward to getting the spring season started," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "We open up with a very competitive tournament. We will see some Top 15 programs along with numerous Power 5 conference teams. The team feels like they can play with these programs. This will be a good test for us early, as we embark on our toughest spring schedule in the history of the program."
The Cougars will be paired in tomorrow's opening round with UNCW and Penn State and the field will tee-off with a shotgun start set for 8:45 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
