ORLANDO, Fla. – College of Charleston freshman Emily Dunlap (Greenville, S.C.) eagled the par-5 13th to close out the three-day UCF Challenge with a final-round 68 on Tuesday at the Eagle Creek Golf Club.
For the tournament, she shot 1-under par with rounds of 75, 72 and 68 and tied for 21st in a field of 16 Top 100-ranked college golfers – placing ahead of four of those nationally-ranked players. It marked her third tournament of her rookie season to finish under par after 54 holes.
"Congrats on a great round and tournament from Emily," CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "We held our own again today, but it is tough to have to play with just four players, two days in a row. We definitely have some things to work on. We need to get well first and then get back to work."
The Cougars carded their lowest team round of the tournament on the final day with a 3-over par 291. They played 14th overall in a tough field comprised of seven Top 40-ranked teams.
Third-ranked Kent State (-21) won the team tournament title with a six-stroke victory over No. 13 Michigan State (-15). No. 38-ranked Renate Grimstad of Miami (Fla.) was the individual medalist with a three-round score of 202 (-14).
CofC will return to action at the Westrook Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Feb. 23-24 at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Ariz.
