GAME PREVIEW
After a stellar defensive display against No. 12-ranked UNCW last weekend, the College of Charleston men's soccer team is ready to battle James Madison in yet another tough Colonial Athletic Association game slated for Saturday, March 27 at noon (ET) at Ralph Lundy Field at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
For the Cougars (0-2-3, 0-1-1 CAA), redshirt junior goalkeeper Cameron Smith did not allow a goal in 110 minutes of action versus UNCW, earning him CAA Defensive Player of the Week honors. It marked his first shutout of the season and second of his career.
"We have another tough conference match tomorrow against JMU," CofC Head Coach Keith Wiggans said. "They are a quality team with good talent. We have continued to strengthen our defending this week, but also have seen more product on the attacking side. We hope to see it translate to the game tomorrow. Our guys need to be ready to battle and I have confidence they will."
Meanwhile, the Dukes (2-0-1, 1-0-0 CAA) are currently riding a two-game win streak with back-to-back shutout victories over George Mason (3-0) on Feb. 27 and Elon (1-0) on March 21.
GAME DAY INFORMATION
Admission is free for all College of Charleston men's soccer home games during the spring 2021 season. CofC received approval from the South Carolina Department of Commerce to welcome spectators at Patriots Point at a reduced capacity of 50 percent.
Fans are asked to help do their part to create a safe environment for all by: (1) staying home if sick or running a fever, (2) frequently washing hands, (3) using hand sanitizer and (4) maintaining physical distance from other guests.
Face coverings (over the nose and mouth) will be required as a condition of all guest entry and throughout the Patriots Point Athletic Complex, unless actively eating or drinking. Restroom capacities will be limited and hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the complex.
