
Charleston Set For CAA Home Opener With Elon

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team (2-1-2, 0-1) will host Elon (3-3, 1-0) in its CAA home opener on Saturday afternoon at Patriots Point. The Cougars are looking for their second consecutive win after a momentum building 5-3 victory on the road at UNC-Asheville.
In Wednesday's road win, sophomore Jakob Kristensen scored two goals while James Cox, Kane Ritchie, and Nick Burnz all scored one goal each.

Charleston Looks to Build on Offensive Momentum
• In its first four games, the College of Charleston had only scored one goal, the game winner at South Carolina
• The Cougars had leaned on their excellent defensive play until an offensive explosion at UNC-Asheville
• The outburst on Wednesday was the first time since 2012 that CofC has scored five goals in a single match
Sophomores and Seniors Leading the Way
• Seniors and sophomores accounted for all the goals and assists in the 5-3 win over the Bulldogs
• Sophomore Jakob Kristensen's two goals against UNC-Asheville doubled his previous career high for goals in a season
• Fellow sophomore Kane Ritchie has two goals to his name in 2021 following a score in Asheville
• Senior Rio Murray (three) and Jake Nicholson (two) lead the club in assists this season

• Elon is off to a 3-3 start overall and a 1-0 mark in conference play
• The Phoenix defeated last place Delaware in its CAA opener, 1-0
• Elon is led by senior Jack Edwards and junior Jeppe Jordoson. Both Edwards and Jordoson have scored two goals each this season
