CofC Set for Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville Monday and Tuesday

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston women's golf team is back in action Monday Sept. 20-Tuesday Sept. 21 at the 24th annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship hosted by the University of Tennessee. The Cougars will play 36 holes Monday and 18 holes Tuesday at the Cherokee Country Club in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Play begins Monday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start as the 17-team field competes on the Par-71 course. Participating teams include Augusta, BYU, Charlotte, Chattanooga, CofC, Eastern Kentucky, East Tennessee State, Kent State, Maryland, Mercer, Miami, Middle Tennessee State, South Dakota State, Texas Tech, UTSA and Virginia Tech.
The Cougars return to play after opening up the season at the famed Cougar Classic against a loaded field. CofC finished the event with two solid rounds and look to build on the momentum heading into Monday. Sophomore Viktoria Hund tops head coach Jamie Futrell's lineup at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship. Hund finished the Cougar Classic strong with a 1-under 71 in the final round.
Senior Jodee Tindal is in the second spot for the Cougars, entering the event with 26 career rounds of par or better. Sophomore Emily Dunlap, freshman Emma Schimpf and senior transfer Smith Knaffle round out CofC's lineup. Schimpf was the Cougars' top finisher at the season-opening Cougar Classic, placing T-35 in her collegiate debut behind three consecutive rounds of 1-over par 73.
