Hund, Tindal & Schimpf led the Cougs at T-44
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The College of Charleston women's golf team finished play at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship on Tuesday afternoon in Knoxville, Tennessee. CofC finished T-13 overall as a squad, firing a 32-over par 884 for the tournament at the Par-71 Cherokee Country Club.
No team participating in the event shot under-par as a team. The Cougars edged Mercer, Eastern Kentucky and South Dakota State to place T-13. Head coach Jamie Futrell's group shot 10-over par on Tuesday, its best round of the tournament after posting a pair of 11-over par 295s in the first and second rounds.
Sophomore Viktoria Hund, senior Jodee Tindal and freshman Emma Schimpf led the Cougars, all finishing T-44. Schimpf started in the lineup for the first time in her career after participating as an individual at the Cougar Classic. Tindal wrapped up the week strong with a 1-over par 72.
Graduate transfer Smith Knaffle matched her best round of the young campaign with a 2-over 73 on Tuesday and moved up five spots on the leaderboard to place T-51. Sophomore Emily Dunlap finished T-74.
"It is not lack of effort, but we are just a little off," Futrell said. "We have a couple weeks to work on some things before our next tournament. Jodee and Smith had good days today. We need to get everyone playing well at the same time though."
