CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston is back in action Friday when the Cougars compete in the CAA Cross Country Championships at White Clay Creek State Park in Newark, Del.
The men's 8K race begins at 10 a.m. followed by the women's 6K at 11 a.m. The Cougars are sending eight men and women to compete for All-CAA honors which go to the top 15 finishers from each gender.
Sophia Brown has been Charleston's top runner this fall, leading the team in all four regular season meets, and posted the 20th-fastest time in school history in the 6K (22:05.10) at the Pirate Invitational two weeks ago.
Joining Brown in the women's race are Rhian Purves, Emily Dorony, Shannon Smith, Hannah Wise, Grace McGrew, Allie Pujol and Cayden Crismon.
Hammer Blair came on strong over the final two meets, leading the Cougars at both the Royals Challenge and Pirate Invitational. Jack Wedge topped the Charleston men at the first two meets of the fall and ranks sixth in school history in the 8K (25:29.18).
Blair and Wedge will run alongside teammates Jackson Reid, Dylan McTigue, Nik Pettinga, Joshua Keifer, Brock Davee and Tucker Green.
