No. 60 CofC Women's Golf Squad Tees Off Westbrook Invitational Sunday

The Cougars played 36 holes Sunday and 18 holes on Monday in Arizona
PEORIA, ARIZ. - The College of Charleston women's golf squad will travel to Peoria, Ariz. this weekend to compete in the 10th annual Westbrook Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The two-day tournament will be played on Sunday, Feb. 27 and Monday, Feb. 28 at the Westbrook Village Golf Club- Vistas Course. Both days tee off at 8:30 a.m. with Sunday featuring 36 holes and Monday featuring 18 holes.
"We are looking forward to going out west," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "We have had success at Westbrook in the past. The team has looked good in practice and we hope to have another successful weekend."
Futrell is taking a crew of seven Cougars to the Westbrook Invitational. The lineup includes Viktoria Hund, Emma Schimpf, Mary Kathryn Talledo, Smith Knaffle and Jodee Tindal. Hund and Talledo spearheaded a historic effort in CofC's last tournament at the UCF Challenge. The Cougars fired a 19-under par with Talledo and Hund taking home CAA Co-Golfer of the Week recognition.
Emily Dunlap and Othilie Lied will also be competing at the Westbrook Invitational as individuals. The two are making their spring season debut as CofC takes on a strong 14-team field including Denver, Iowa, Kansas, Kansas State, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UNLV, Washington State and Wisconsin.
As a team, the Cougars are currently ranked No. 60 nationally in Golfstat's latest rankings, the highest of any CAA team. CofC has placed fourth or better in four consecutive tournaments heading into this weekend.
